LaDonna Bozworth Gray, 98, finished her journey on earth on August 21, 2024. Born to Arthur and Martha Bozworth on February 28, 1926, in Sharon, Indiana, LaDonna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and active community member.
LaDonna graduated from West Lafayette High School and earned a Bachelor's in Science from Purdue University, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. In 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert L. Gray, with whom she shared 63 happy years.
LaDonna was dedicated to her large family of six children, and created a loving, healthy home. She also worked as a bookkeeper for several local businesses, including Walter L. Gray Inc. and the Eight Mice. Her volunteer activities included being a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, member of Tri Kappa and Bible Study Fellowship (BSF).
Raised in the West Lafayette Baptist Church, LaDonna became an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church after marrying into the Gray family. LaDonna was a leader in United Methodist Women (UMW) and taught many adult and children's classes. She later attended Federated Church services as well. She enjoyed various hobbies such as playing bridge, needlework, reading, puzzles, ceramics, and going on volksmarches and family camping trips.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Doug) Henderson, and her sons, Steven (Jill), Randall, Thomas (Debbie), Daniel (Sara), and Peter (Jennifer). Her grandchildren include: Stephanie (Dickie) Rackley, Jimmy (Nikki) Gray, Kelly (Jeremy) Moore, John (Jennifer) Henderson, Joe Henderson, Ashley (Joel) Clark, Zach (Erika) Gray, Amber (Travis) Knight, Niki Goodman, Christopher (Tierney) Gray, Joy (Cody) Litzenberg, Savanna Gray, Shelby (Mac) White, and Leanne Gray, and her great-grandchildren: D.J. Rackley, Daisy Gray, Wyatt Moore (Samantha), Ava Moore, Colin Henderson, Luke Henderson, Gabby Brown, Andrea Rus, Jace Clark, Logan Clark, Kaelynn Clark, Lexi Gray, Matthew Hughes, Braxton Knight, Brylee Knight, Haylee (Frank) Rice, Jadence Whitus, and Max Whitus, and great-great-grandchildren: Aurora Brenner, Athena Brenner, Finnley Moore, Aurora Scott, Sage Scott and Gunner Rice.
LaDonna is also remembered by her nieces, Clair (Roger Thorpe) Ransom, Miriam (Tom) Strohmeier, Kathy (Larry) Fraser, and Lyn (Mike) Melloch, as well as her sister-in-law, Marilyn Gray Pryor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Gray; her sister, Clara Stanfield; brothers-in-law, Robert Pryor and Dick Stanfield; daughter-in-law, Valora Gray; and great-granddaughter, Alison Rackley.
LaDonna's loving legacy to her family and community leaves a lasting impact. She will be remembered for her dedication, kindness, and the love she shared with those around her.
Her service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 25 at Trinity United Methodist Church (509 North Street, Lafayette, IN 47901) with visitation one hour prior to the service at 1:00pm.
