Mary Jo Streicher

Mary Jo Streicher, 80, of West Lafayette, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026. She was born on September 13, 1945, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Chauncey and Pauline Mattison, who preceded her in death.

Mary Jo was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who loved her family above all else. She was married to the love of her life, John Streicher, for 54 wonderful years. Together, they built a life centered on love, family traditions, and unwavering support for one another.

A proud graduate of West Lafayette High School, Class of 1963, Mary Jo dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. She never missed a sporting event or special occasion involving her children or grandchildren, always showing up with encouragement, pride, and unconditional love.

Mary Jo was well known for her incredible cooking and the joy she brought to family gatherings. Her meals were the heart of every holiday and get-together, where she especially cherished time spent with those she loved. She also had a passion for shopping and found happiness in staying busy, often enjoying time spent browsing and window shopping.

For a time, Mary Jo worked in the cafeteria at Happy Hollow Elementary School, a role that allowed her to be close to her children and remain involved in their daily lives. She was also a lifelong member of Federated Church of West Lafayette.

Mary Jo had a determined spirit-once she set her mind to something, she saw it through. That strength, along with her warmth and dedication, left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Streicher of West Lafayette; her son, Burke (Janice) Streicher of West Lafayette; her daughter, Paige Streicher of West Lafayette; and her cherished grandchildren, Kendall Streicher, Gary Collier, Walter Streicher, and Mina Streicher. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia A. Owens (Dennis) of Novato, California; and her nieces and nephew, Kris Owens, Cinda Aluzzi, and Kirk Owens.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jo was preceded in death by her beloved dogs-Rufus, Tanner, Braxton, and Baxter-who were truly among the loves of her life and held a very special place in her heart.

A private interment will take place at a later date at Grand View Cemetery in West Lafayette.
