Laila B. O'Connor, of Abington, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at her residence. She was 76 years old. Laila was born in Walton, N.Y. to the late Finn and Astrid (née Refsland) Boye on September 13, 1948. She was the wife to the late Edward J. O'Connor who predeceased her on July 11, 2025.
Laila was a sweet, delightful woman whom everyone who met her adored. Laila started her schooling in a one-room schoolhouse in Oxbow Hollow and graduated from Walton Central High School. She was a camp counselor at White Lake Covenanter Camp as a young adult and stayed involved most of her life, including her daughter and granddaughter attending. She was very involved in the church, spreading the word of Jesus, and she was a deacon for several years. She was an Optician by vocation for 45+ years. Laila was artistic & loved painting, and could often be found putting together a puzzle. She loved skiing & traveling & spending time with family & friends.
Laila is survived by her daughter: Tina M. Olive, her granddaughter: Brianna Olive (Jahmal Donovan), and is expecting a great grandchild. She is survived also by her sister: Janet Boye and is predeceased by other sister: Laura McMahon (Survived by James McMahon). She is survived by Brother-in-laws Daniel O'Connor (Deborah), Joseph O'Connor (Margo), Sister-in-law Candace Foust (James), predeceased by Michael O'Connor (Survived by Erin), and survived by several nieces & nephews & cousins and family in Norway.
Laila will be laid to rest on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Ave. Walton, N.Y. 13856. A memorial service the following day to commemorate her and her husband Edward will be held at her gravesite on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon at The Reformed Presbyterian Church in Walton, 34 East St. Walton, N.Y. 13856.
