Laine Eric Wester, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, left this world on September 22, 2025, in Memphis, TN, at the age of 60. Born on November 4, 1964, in Fort Bragg, NC, Laine lived a life rich with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

For almost three decades, Laine dedicated his career to surveillance at Bally's casino, later known as 1st Jackpot. His passion for his job was evident as he often came home to share amusing tales from his time watching guests on the cameras, with one memorable story being of a man leaving the casino inebriated and unwittingly walking into a pond in the parking lot. This love for life and those around him shone through in every story he told.

Laine cherished family vacations and special holiday gatherings where he would go all out decorating to create a festive atmosphere filled with joy. His children still hold vivid memories of him playfully tossing them into the pool, embodying the spirit of fun and bonding that defined their time together. Stubborn yet loving, Laine was always there for his family, a devoted father and attentive husband who thrived in connecting with others. His playful nature was often revealed through the pranks and jokes he shared, bringing smiles and laughter to those lucky enough to know him.

Though he faced a hard-fought battle with cancer, Laine proved time and again that his spirit was unyielding. He approached life with strength and resolve, never allowing his illness to change the vibrant person he was. Watching him navigate this tough time was the hardest experience for his loved ones. Yet, they find solace in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited in heaven with his parents, Jack and Tansy (Smith) Wester, Sr., and his sister Tami Dunn, who welcomed him with open arms.

Before he found his passion at the casino, Laine served in the U.S. Navy from October 1983 to September 1987, stationed aboard the USS Rathburne FF 1057 in beautiful Waikiki, Hawaii. He often reminisced about the stunning landscapes and expressed a longing to return to that paradise.

A lover of art, Laine pursued drawing and painting with great enthusiasm. He also demonstrated his creative spirit through building projects and photography, capturing moments and memories that would live on for years to come. Music played a significant role in his life, and he couldn't resist an opportunity to sing karaoke, bringing joy to anyone who heard his voice. Known for his sweet tooth, Laine enjoyed candy, cokes, and even a twinkie, which he humorously craved up until just days before he passed. His family recalls the happiness on his face when they brought him gummy bears and a twinkie, a small gesture that brought immense joy in his final days.

Laine leaves behind his cherished wife, Cherryl (Champlain) Wester; daughter Brittney Wester; son Brett Wester, along with his wife Laura; and grandchildren Emma Austin and Claire Wester, who will forever remember their remarkable grandfather. He is also survived by his brothers Lee Wester (Connie) and Jack Wester, Jr., and his sister Pamela Sutton.

Life is fleeting, a truth Laine embraced wholeheartedly. He loved deeply, forging connections that will last a lifetime. His legacy of love will continue to resonate, reminding his family and friends to hold their loved ones close and cherish every moment. Laine Eric Wester will be profoundly missed, but the love he gave will live on, carried in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
