LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Curtiss Lake Snipes, age 76, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025. He was born December 17, 1948, son of the late Leeo Roberts Snipes and the late Dixie Blakenship Snipes and was the loving husband of Theresa West Snipes. Lake proudly served his country in the United States Army and was with American Legion Post 31 for 53 years and a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge for 42 years. He was currently employed with Steel Fab Industries as a forklift driver for 17 years. He loved to travel and has visited all 48 original states. Lake drove for Lancaster Tours and was known as "Drifter". He served on the advisory board for the International Order of Rainbow Girls. Family was most important to him, and he loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren, who he loved dearly. Lake was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served as deacon.

Lake is survived by his wife of 57 years, Theresa Snipes; two daughters, Sharon Snipes King and Amanda Hanna (Shane); three grandchildren, Lakin Hanna Barrett (Josh), Riley Lake King, and Banks Hanna; sister, Jody Blanton; and aunt, Mary Garrison.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tonya Michelle Snipes; parents, Leeo and Dixie Snipes; and sister, Brooker Laswell.

The Celebration of Life Service for Lake will be Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, PO Box 2647, Lancaster, SC 29721 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
