Marion Marie (Coleman) Snipes, 94, passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2025 at Holy Family hospice near Cleveland Ohio. A memorial service will be scheduled in the coming months, to be held in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Marion was born March 11th, 1931 near Colby Kansas. She lived on a small farm outside Colby with her parents Viola "Tiger" and Elmer "Tennessee" Coleman, and her brother Denzil. They had no electricity at home until she went away to college.
An engaged student, Marion received glowing recommendations and scholarships to Bryn Mawr College near Philadelphia, and moved cross-country taking the train by herself, only able to return home once or twice per year. Always kind and curious, and one of the few students not from a wealthy family, she received extra care from the college faculty and staff.
She earned a degree in Geology, and after college she moved to Colorado to work for the US Geological Survey where she met her future husband Bob. They moved often, living in different parts of Colorado and Texas, always putting family first and enjoying many hobbies and business endeavors as well.
Her enterprising spirit took her from geology to handwriting analysis, with an assortment of network marketing endeavors along the way. Inquisitive and thoughtful, Marion was a life-long learner and always brought a smile to those around her. Marion maintained close relationship with Bryn Mawr college and alumnae throughout her life. In 2019, she moved from Texas to Ohio to be near her son.
Marion was preceded in death by her brother Denzil, and her husband Bob. She is survived by her son Corey (in Ohio) and daughter Lynne (in Arizona), as well as her many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who are all blessed by the wisdom and insight she provided.
Donations in her name may be made to Holy Family Hospice (Parma, OH) and the Bryn Mawr College Alumnae Association (Bryn Mawr, PA).
