LaMerle Richards Greer, 83, of Baytown was born February 17, 1926 in Bland Lake, TX, San Augustine County, the only child of Bobbie Richards and Ora Lee Campbell Richards and passed away Friday, September 18, 2009 in Baytown. She was a 1942 graduate of San Augustine High School and a 1946 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a B.S. degree in Vocational Home Economics. While in college, she was editor of the college paper, business manager of the college yearbook, president of the Ellen H. Richards Club, and a member of Amities and Lumberjackettes. She spent time teaching at San Augustine High School and Longview Junior High School. She retired from the La Porte Independent School District in 1985 after teaching third grade there for twenty three years. She was a member of Pruett and Lobit Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bernard Earl "Bud" Greer, who she married in 1947 in San Augustine and is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Stephanie James of Lufkin and Gayla and David Bonner of Dumas; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jill Greer of Richmond; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; aunt, Sallie Whitton of San Augustine, and special sister-in-law, Virgie Dickerson of Broaddus. Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Jesse Flowers and David Bonner officiating. Burial will follow at the Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX, 77521 (281) 422-8111.
