Lan Ngoc Nguyen

Lan N. Nguyen was born on April 22, 1944 in Hanoi, Vietnam. One of his favorite childhood memories was walking to school with his brothers around Lake Hoan Kiem. Lan had been academically oriented all his life, which ultimately landed him scholarships to study in the United States in the 1960's. He majored in Electrical Engineering at the University of Florida for undergraduate studies; and continued with graduate studies at the Moore School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.
Lan returned to his birth country of Vietnam in the late 1960's where he met his bride, Trinh Thi Tang, whose vocation is an acupuncturist. They married on June 26, 1971; and had two sons - Linh Nguyen (1972) and Long Nguyen (1974). Lan also was the stepfather to Stella Thi Tang, Phong Duy Nguyen, Bich Thuy Nguyen, and Van Nguyen.
In 1975, Lan was graciously sponsored by his former professor, Dr. Pier L. Bargellini, to return to the United States of America to be a satellite telecommunications engineer at COMSAT Labs. Throughout his career at COMSAT, INTELSAT, Lockheed Martin, Femmecomp, and until his retirement, Lan published numerous papers in the IEEE consortium, and holds several patents in telecommunications.
In 1976, Lan sponsored his wife and family to the United States, where they became US citizens, adopting America as their new home. Lan and his family resided in Fairfax County until the time of his passing at age 80. He was a dedicated and hard-working father who devoted his life to enable his family in achieving the American dream. He loved his family, his adopted country, and ultimately, came back to the LORD Jesus Christ in his later years. His family rejoices for his homecoming to the LORD on August 4, 2024.
