Lance Joseph Anderson, 57, a remarkable man of compassion and kindness, unexpectedly passed away on July 10, 2023, surrounded and comforted by his loving family. Lance was born on January 12, 1966, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and although he began his journey there, he ultimately found his home in the Kansas City area, where he spent the majority of his vibrant life.
From an early age, Lance exhibited a profound curiosity for the world, coupled with an innate talent for assisting others. Lance's natural social skills guided him towards a successful career as a realtor. However, his true calling lay in supporting older adults and those in need of assistance, a testament to his unwavering desire to contribute goodness to the world.
Lance's days were filled with laughter and adventure, as he embarked on numerous trips with his cherished family and friends, exploring the wonders of the world. Yet, it was amidst the serene beauty of the mountains where Lance discovered true solace. Those who were fortunate enough to know Lance personally also experienced his profound love for preparing food for others. He always made sure its presentation was just as thoughtful as the meal itself. Often found in the kitchen, accompanied by his favorite music, Lance delighted in crafting unique recipes and dishes for the people he held dear.
Lance will forever be etched in our memories as the life and soul of every social gathering, an ardent patron of music, a mischievous and imaginative catalyst for fun, and a generous, compassionate, and thoughtful man with an unparalleled talent for storytelling and infectious laughter. He was truly one of a kind, fiercely determined to leave a positive impact on the world by wholeheartedly embracing his own individuality and inspiring others to do the same.
Lance's legacy of compassion and kindness lives on through his three children: Nikolas, Kathryn, and Madelyn Anderson, who embody his values and continue to spread love in their own unique ways with the support of their mother. Lance's wife, Melinda Rea-Holloway, who shares his passion for life and loves and supports him wholeheartedly, survives him along with her children Sam, Isabel and Rebecca (Rhys) who is expecting their first grandchild in November. He is survived by his parents, Vern and Georgia Anderson, his sisters, Tina (Bruce) Breckenridge, Georgyan (Bobby) Russell, and Audra (Joe) Wood, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members, who were all touched by his warmth and generosity.
A service to celebrate Lance's extraordinary life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 2 pm (CST) at the Lenexa Stake Center, 21515 W 101st St, Lenexa, KS. Services can also be viewed online at Please join us in creating a floral tribute that captures the essence of Lance's remarkable spirit. He had a unique talent for brightening people's days with thoughtful gestures of love, often expressed through the gift of flowers. He understood the power of a simple bloom to uplift spirits and bring warmth to any occasion. By adorning the service with flowers, we pay homage to Lance's loving nature and his ability to infuse beauty into the lives of those around him. Please follow the attached link to place an order for flowers for the service, Gregory's Fine Floral. We also welcome everyone to bring a photo of Lance if they wish to add it to a collective display that will be the service.

Lance and I coached our daughters´ soccer team. Neither of us knew the soccer rules, but it was a great time with the girls. He always had a smile and brought positive energy.

I had the pleasure of working with Lance back in the late 80"s maybe 1990 we were both servers at Darrells restaurant. At 91 first and Metcalf. Lance without a doubt was the nicest guy. We had a "Group" that would often go out after work. There are stories for sure and the best memories I will remember forever. Lance Rest In Peace man. Soar high save us all spots.

Florence was the wonderful young man was a great personality. He would stop by occasionally just to see how we were doing. He helped us in the house that we are living in now and we know his family will miss him greatly. We are terribly sorry for your loss. He has left this life at a young age and we know many will miss him. May the spirit of our heavenly father and the Holy Ghost be with you all at this time and comfort you. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Lovingly Sharon and Michael Kirk and family.
