Lance Bennett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doak-Howell Funeral Home on May 21, 2025.
Lance Brian Bennett, age 53, of Shelbyville, TN, passed from this life early Tuesday morning, May 20, 2025.
He was born on February 3, 1972, in Muncie, IN, to Betty Myers Bennett and the late Monte Vernon Bennett.
In addition to his mother, Lance is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Misty Dennard Bennett; his beloved son, Davidson Andrew Bennett of Shelbyville; his brother, Patrick "Pat" (Cynthia) Bennett of Brentwood; and two cherished nephews, Brooks Patrick Bennett and Nathan James Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his father, Monte Vernon Bennett.
Lance was raised in Indiana and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in the Class of 1990. He went on to attend Lipscomb University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He began his professional career as a CPA, working in Nashville, TN; Tallahassee, FL; and Chattanooga, TN.
While in Tallahassee, Lance became involved in youth ministry, a calling that would define the rest of his life. His deep knowledge of Scripture and passion for sharing God's word led him to serve as the lead minister at Riverside Church of Christ in Lafayette, LA. He later earned a Master of Divinity from Harding University.
In 2018, Lance and his family were called to Shelbyville, where he served as the minister of Fairlane Church of Christ. He was also active in the community, serving on the boards of the Tony Rice Center and Life Source Family Solutions.
Lance had a deep love for reading, music, concerts, and cheering on any Indiana sports team. But above all, he was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and a faithful disciple of Christ.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Fairlane Church of Christ, with Russ Countess officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service begins-both at Fairlane Church of Christ.
Following the service, the family has chosen cremation. His ashes will be interred at Hollywood Cemetery in Wartrace a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Community Bank in Shelbyville, TN (207 Elm St. Shelbyville, TN 37160) savings account under Misty Bennett for the Davidson Andrew Bennett Scholarship Fund, ask for Maddie Porter or Sarah Warner at FCB to assist with donations.
