Ryan Parsons Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doak-Howell Funeral Home on Jan. 25, 2026.
Ryan Keith Parsons, age 61, of Shelbyville, Tennessee, passed from this life on Friday, January 23, 2026, at his home while under the care of his two sons and Aveana Hospice.

A native of Bedford County, Ryan was born on December 17, 1964, to the late Derrel Parsons and Judy Smotherman Agee. He was truly homegrown, having spent his life in Bedford County and graduating from Shelbyville Central High School with the Class of 1983.

By trade, Ryan was a skilled heavy equipment operator. He was the owner and operator of Parsons Excavation for 25 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic, and dependability.

He enjoyed spending his free time outdoors regardless of the activity and was a lifelong UT Volunteer fan.

He is survived by his two sons, Haustin (Daylee) Parsons and Hamilton Parsons both of Shelbyville; grandson, Huxlee; sisters, Lisa (Harvey) Martin and Kim (Wallace) Holmes both of Shelbyville along with nephews, Chase (Megan) Martin and Mark (Chelsie) Leverette; and nieces, Hannah (Will) Landers and Brittany Leverette.

A gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate Ryan's life on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Doak-Howell Funeral Home. A private internment will take place at Crowell's Chapel Cemetery at a later time.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital @ www.stjude.org.
