Landis Foy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Mar. 6, 2026.
Landis Oakley "Lanny" Foy, Jr., 78, of Germantown, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026.

Lanny was born on September 11, 1947, in Memphis, TN, to Oakley and Mildred Foy. His college years began at Mississippi State University, where he was initiated into the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity his freshman year. He later transferred and graduated from Delta State University and went on to devote more than 55 years to the real estate profession.

Lanny spent much of his career with Crye-Leike Realtors, where he served as Managing Broker of the corporate headquarters office on Quail Hollow Road in Memphis, Tennessee. He had been associated with Crye-Leike since 1989 and also served as Division Manager for Crye-Leike Auctions in Mississippi and West Tennessee. Prior to joining Crye-Leike, Lanny owned and managed Foy Realty and Auction Company, Inc. in Clarksdale, Mississippi, from 1974 to 1989.

Throughout his career, Lanny was known for his leadership, integrity, and dedication to helping others succeed. His greatest professional achievements were mentoring agents and managing offices that allowed so many others to reach their personal and professional goals. He was also widely respected for his expertise in marketing real estate across several states through both traditional real estate and auction platforms.

Lanny was a past member of Rotary and faithfully served as an elder and Sunday School teacher in Presbyterian Church in America congregations for many years.

Above all, Lanny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who deeply loved his family. He enjoyed Mississippi State sports, reading, exercising, playing a great hand of bridge, and spending time with those he loved most.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Dibbie Bass Foy; his children, Mandy Foy Trawick (Todd) of Auburn, Alabama, Landis Oakley Foy III (Tammy) of Germantown, Tennessee, Spencer Bass Foy (Cate) of Eads, Tennessee, and Courtney Foy Lubozynski (Matt) of Germantown, Tennessee; and his sister, Libby Foy Peay of Germantown, Tennessee.

He was a proud grandfather to Beau, Hampton, and John Spencer Finklea; Landis and Walker Foy; Hud and Miller Foy; and Hank, Dibbie, and Oscar Lubozynski.

Lanny was preceded in death by his parents, Oakley and Mildred Foy.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home (5668 Poplar Ave Memphis, TN 38119) with a memorial service immediately following at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Baptist Hospice, or a memorial of your choice.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff of The Gardens of Germantown Memory Care for the compassion and loving care they provided to Lanny. Their kindness and devotion brought comfort not only to him but to our entire family.

I've had the opportunity to be part of the community that has cared for Lanny in his last chapter of life. Lanny glowed when I was touring a family around the community and he told me on several occasions I was doing a good job. No matter where he was in his Alzheimer's journey, his true love to help others and leadership shined through and through. Our deepest condolences to Dibbie and the entire Foy family. We truly appreciate you for allowing us to love Lanny.
