Lane Blondell, age 68, of Woodridge, passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side and the unwavering support of many in the days leading up to his passing. Beloved husband of Joanne for 45 years. Loving father of Matthew (Lauren) Blondell, Jillian (Ryan) Russell, Jessica (Jensen) Schambach, and Joshua (Molly Maletich) Blondell. Proud and devoted "Papa" to Sloane, Jude Lane, Remington, Ryan Lane, Callan, Layne, Lincoln, Lyla, Levi, and one grandchild on the way. Cherished brother of Holly (Ken) Kasper and Pamela (Mike Timms) Anderson. Dear uncle to many.

Lane met the love of his life, Joanne, while working at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn. Together, they built a life full of laughter, love, and family, and taught their children that family always comes first.

Lane was a gifted handyman whose talents and generosity touched everyone around him. Whether building fireplace mantels, crafting furniture, or installing wainscoting, he poured care and craftsmanship into every project with precision, especially for his children. His trademark wooden rocking horse and baby cradle became cherished family heirlooms. He lovingly built them for his children, grandchildren, and many more. A lifelong learner and doer, Lane took great pride in his home and gardens, and practiced beekeeping, harvesting honey each year with joy and dedication.

He lived life fully and intentionally. He enjoyed golfing, cross-country skiing, and sharing coffee and stories with his many friends. Lane worked over 35 years on the railroad, always providing for and prioritizing his family. Retirement became a time he truly treasured, offering more chances to enjoy the people and pastimes he loved most.

Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove. Prayers at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, proceeding to St. Scholastica Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Interment private.
