Memorial services for Lanny Beyer of Hancock will be held Monday, February 3, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock, with Reverend Julius Miller officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
Lanny Willard Beyer was born on July 25, 1952, the first child to Willard and Vera (Keller) Beyer in Morris, Minnesota. Lanny was raised in Morris until the age of 4, when the family moved to Hancock. He was baptized on August 10, 1952, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Holloway and was confirmed in his faith on May 28, 1967 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Hancock. Lanny received his education in Hancock, graduating with the class of 1971. While in school, Lanny met Constance Greiner, and the two were married on May 27, 1972. They made their home in Hancock and Lanny worked at Hancock Concrete until 1978 when he and Connie starting long haul trucking together. In 1998, they moved from Hancock to their farm site. He retired from trucking in 2012, and worked for a time at Swift Machine and Fab in Benson and then worked helping local farmers until 2016.
Lanny was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Hancock. In his younger years, he played football and was involved in wrestling. He enjoyed working on the farm with Connie, tending to their garden, and raising crops for the wildlife. Lanny loved his pets, especially the dog, Rowdy, and their two cats, Thelma and Louise. Lanny was an avid hunter and fisherman, he made annual elk hunts to Colorado for 22 years – only returning one year without an elk!
Lanny died peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at his home in Hancock; he was 72 years old.
Lanny is survived by his wife, Connie Beyer of Hancock; his mother, Vera Beyer of Hancock; sisters: Connie (Bob) Knight of Fort Wayne, IN, Susan (David Farrington) Warren of Bristol, TN and Betty (Todd) Staton of Benson; brother-in-law: LeRoy Greiner of Morton, IL; and nieces and nephews: Levi (Mercede) Staton, Robert (Taylor) Knight, Jessica (Sean) Byrd, Brittany (Shawn) Johnson, Tiffany (Chad Beaver) Sadergaski, Tasha Staton, Nicole Staton, Mike (Sheri) Greiner, and Jenny (Patrick) Ryan. He is preceded in death by his father, Willard; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Elmer and Linda Greiner: sister-in-law, Karen Greiner; and niece, Lori Greiner Grover.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in care of the arrangements for Lanny.
