Lanny Ray Vowell

Lanny Ray Vowell, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 29, 2026 after a long battle with illness. He was born December 15, 1948 in Clinton, OK to Andy and Dorothy Musick Vowell. He married Rena Pridemore on September 6, 1969.

He left Clinton High School two months before graduation to serve in the Army from 1967 – 1970, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He served two tours in Vietnam until the Army disbanded his unit before his third tour. Lanny faithfully owned and operated Lanny's Alignment in El Reno, Oklahoma, for 37 years. He and Rena attended First Baptist Church of Yukon for the past 23 years.

Lanny enjoyed frequenting auctions every weekend. He especially loved his 1972 Chevelle and attending the hot rod shows. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, taking them on trips in the RV and never missing a sporting event, home or away.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Wyatt Vowell.

Lanny is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rena; sons Lancer (Lavane), Garrett (Cheryl) and Torey (Natalie) Vowell; grandchildren Andy (Whitney), Jake (Hannah), Rachel (Brenden), Matthew, Emma, Hudson and Gentry; great-grandchildren Harper, Crosby and Janey; brother, Terry (Helen) Vowell and many other close family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Yanda & Son Funeral Home in Yukon, OK. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Yukon, OK. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Stafford Cemetery, Stafford, OK.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
