Larry Babbitt

Larry Babbitt, age 75, of New Haven entered eternal rest on January 30, 2024, surrounded by his "Babbitt Bunch". Born August 13, 1948, in Quincy, MA, son of the late Lawrence and Frances Babbitt, Larry spent many of his favorite years in Middlefield, CT, where he could be found at Powder Ridge or preparing the racecar for the many races at Plainville in his 16X Pinto. Larry was a self-employed sprinkler fitter, proud that his son and grandson, Joe and Joe Jr were too. He spent many years as a member and founder of Local 676.
Larry is survived by his best friend and wife, of 40 years, Kathleen Given Babbitt, who he loved so much he married twice. His children, Christopher (Judith), Joseph, Catherine, Eric (Jessica), Michelle, Kimberly (Torrey) and Nicole (Gary) and his greatest joy, grandkids: Anthony Epps, Joe "Joeboy" Babbitt Jr, first born granddaughter Alexa "Sessa" Babbitt, Daryn Hatch, CJ "Siege" Kelly, Stephen "Steeevo" Zahornacky, best friends: Evan, Harley, Jason and Jaxson Allen, and Gary "G3", Jordan and Danika Verbanic, Spencer, Noel and Zoey Babbitt. He is also survived by sisters Elaine Serra and Patty Costa, second wife Robin Stohlts and several nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his sister, Theresa Babbitt and former wife, Patricia Alfano Babbitt.
The family would like to extend their greatest appreciation to Dr. Imbevore, NHFD Engine Company 5, his hospice nurses and his "cleaning lady".
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 4th, from 3-6pm, with a remembrance to be held at 5:45pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made, in Larry's name, to Connecticut Hospice.
