Larry William Bagby, 78, of Adrian, MO passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at his home. A masonic service and a memorial service were held Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amsterdam Masonic Lodge #141. Inurnment in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO.
Larry was born March 31, 1945 to William Marshall and Virginia "Fay" (Stanfill) Bagby in Bates County, MO. He grew up in the Adrian area and attended Adrian High School where he graduated with the Class of 1963. The following year he married Cheryl Jean Petty on May 23, 1964 and together they had three sons: Jay, Alan and Scott. Larry loved farming and loved his cattle, even if that meant working as a truck driver on top of his farming duties. When Larry was not working on the farm, he liked spending time on his antique tractors and was a part of the Western Missouri Antique Tractor Association. Larry was also a member of the Amsterdam Masonic Lodge No. 141 for 57 years. Taking ranger rides were a favorite pastime of Larry's as he would drive around and see the neighbors and it was said he rarely, if ever, forgot who lived on what properties even years after they no longer lived there. The thing that Larry loved most was spending time with his sons and then later his grandchildren.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother-in-law, Harold Cashier; and father-in-law, John Petty. He is survived by his sons: Jay (Lynn) Bagby, Alan (Sarona) Bagby, and Scott (Megan) Bagby; sister, Freda Cashier; mother-in-law, Peggy Petty; grandchildren: Lareesa Riley, Brantley Bagby, Whitney Colin, Lacee Hair, Bryce Bagby, Trenton Bagby, and Olivia Bagby; great-grandchildren: Blakely, Braden, Stetson and Peyson; and many nieces and nephews.
