Larry Gene Bakka

Larry Gene Bakka, age 74, of Cloquet, Minnesota, passed away on September 27, 2025, while in the care of staff at Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital.

Larry was born on August 2, 1951, in Minneapolis to Lester and Viena Bakka. After graduating from Cloquet High School, he attended Lake Superior College and Dunwoody Institute. He spent his career working in the trades, for many years alongside his father, Lester.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman, spending his life on the water or in the woods, fishing and hunting. Larry had a passion for classic cars and continued to maintain his 1956 and 1964 Chevrolet's. He was a devoted father and grandfather, who took pride in spending time with family and dog, Mason. Larry was dedicated to passing all of his lifelong passions onto his grandson, Hunter.

He is survived by his children Lindsey (Phillip) Hanson and Kimberly (Scott) Johnson of Esko; grandchildren Emily, Macy, Hunter, Addison and Anna; siblings Debra (Gerald) Lopez of Lower Gwynedd, PA and Jerry (David Vipond) Bakka of Waverly, PA, a nephew, great nephew, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by parents, nephew and several other family members.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held on October 15, 2025, at Nelson Funeral Care from 5-7 PM. The family wishes to thank the staff at Community Memorial Hospital and Aspirus St. Luke's for the compassionate care they provided Larry.
