Larry Dean Barnhart passed away on January 27, 2026 in Cooper, Texas. He was born on January 26, 1944, in either Salem or Dallas, Oregon, the second son of Delbert and Ruth Barnhart. During his childhood, the family moved throughout Oregon, following his father’s work in the logging industry. Larry lived and attended school in several communities, including Salem, Myrtle Creek, Bates, Haines, and Burnt Woods near Philomath. The Barnhart family was living in Dallas, Oregon, when Larry graduated high school. After graduation he followed his family to Meridian, Idaho where his father again was working in the logging industry.
While living in Meridian, Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Following his military service, Larry returned to Oregon and settled in the Prineville area, where he worked in the logging industry. In his later years, he made his home in Cumby, Texas, for a decade and finally a brief time in Cooper, Texas.
Larry is survived by his brother, Clinton (Linda) Barnhart of Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Ruth Barnhart; his brother, Mark Daniel (Dan) Barnhart of Oregon; and his sister, Betty Moseley of Texas.
Larry will be remembered for being a kind and quiet man and will be missed by those he leaves behind.
