Larry Mason Beavers Sr. (79), a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his son's home in Duncan, Oklahoma, following a brief illness. Born on November 27, 1945, in Grandfield, Oklahoma, Larry spent most of his life rooted in the soil of Chattanooga, where he cultivated not only crops but also a legacy of family, hard work, and love of his community.
Larry was the son of Raymon Victor Beavers and Addie Mae Beavers, who both preceded him in death, along with his siblings: Billy Beavers, Don Beavers, and Judy Huffstutler. He was also reunited in passing with his former wife, Shirley Williamson Beavers, and his cherished daughter, Michell Beavers.
Larry's life was one of many chapters, each written with his hands and determination. As a farmer, he dedicated himself to the land. He was also a skilled carpenter and an adventurous businessman, owning and operating Beavers Seed Cleaners, Beavers Brothers Ostrich Co., and Beavers Auction.
Larry had an uncanny way with animals (especially his dogs, always at his side or in the bed of his pickup truck), but his greatest joy was found in the company of his family. A beloved father, he is survived by his children: Haila Crabtree and her husband, Johnny (Elgin, OK), Larry Beavers Jr. (Duncan, OK), and Shannon Beavers-Bard (Kennebunk, Maine).
Larry's love extended to his grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as "Pawpaw" or "Pops." His grandchildren-Corey Catlin (wife Kimberly Catlin), Jennifer McDonald (husband Dylan McDonald), Larry (Mason) Beavers III (wife Katlyn Beavers), Kase Beavers (wife Alyssa Beavers), Addie Rose Elroy (husband Michael Elroy), Victoria Beavers, Dylan Bard, Devin Bard, Logan Bard, Camden Bard, and Brody Beavers-carry forward his legacy of resilience. His pride and joy also included his great-grandchildren: Corbin Catlin, Harper Catlin, August McDonald, Amelia McDonald, Larry (Opie) Mason Beavers IV, Juddson Beavers, Lilian Beavers, Everly Elroy, and Cayd Elroy, along with many others whose lives he touched and who knew him as their "Pawpaw," including Colten Keck, Logan Patterson, Marlee Holt, and so many more.
Larry's life was marked by a love of nature, especially fishing, and an open-door policy that made everyone feel like family. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren, sharing wisdom and humor while occasionally giving mischievous advice that ensured his kids were experiencing the full circle of parenting, "paying for their raisin'."
Rest in peace, Larry Mason Beavers Sr. Your life's legacy is your children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. You will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
Honoring his wishes, no public service will take place. The family kindly suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Chattanooga Cemetery.
