Larry F. Benjamin

Larry Fred Benjamin, born March 14, 1945, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, due to cancer. The son of Gerald & Naomi (Roland) Benjamin, Larry was a loving husband, dedicated father, devoted Christ follower, hard working and beloved man. He found joy in spending time with his family, volunteering at his church, and working until he was 76.
Graduating with the Lyons High School class of 1963, he worked a variety of jobs, before deciding on a career in the electrical utility field. He married his wife Mary in December 1964. In 1984, Larry and Mary made the brave decision to relocate their family to Southern California after being offered a job with a large electric utility. After many years enjoying the Southern California climate, Larry and Mary returned to Portland, Michigan to be near family. Sadly, cancer has claimed our father's earthly body, but his spirit and soul are in heaven with our Lord.
He is survived by his wife; two siblings; six children; seventeen grandchildren; and eight 8 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Larry's life will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Lyons Baptist Church, 507 Hunt Street, Lyons, followed by a reception. Alternatively, the celebration of life will be streamed online at the Lyons Baptist Church Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/lyonsbaptistchurch).
In lieu of giving flowers, contributions in Larry's memory can be made to Lyons Baptist Church. A card box will be available at the ceremony.
