Larry Robert Benson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024, at the age of 79 in St. Joseph, MI. Born on June 8, 1945, in Berrien Center, MI, to Clyde and Mable Benson, Larry was the youngest of ten siblings. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, his nine siblings, Rene Kendall, Cliff Benson, Reva Garver, Bonnie Faulstich, Delores Holmes, Gerald Benson, Velma Morgan, Linda Evans, and Effie Burghs, and one grandchild, Brandon Benson.

Larry's life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and humor. He dedicated many years to farming, a profession that he approached with diligence and passion. His love for the land was only matched by his love for the road, as he found great joy in trucking for the Farm Bureau Company. Larry's work ethic was unparalleled, and he instilled the same values in his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Christine Benson, and their three children: Larry Benson Jr. (Donna), Chris Benson, and Shelly Benson. Larry's legacy continues through his four grandchildren, Bambi Arellanes, Michelle Sutton (John), Ashley Benson, and Leea Benson, as well as his three great-grandchildren, Cody Boston, Sophia Horton, and Amarah Yardley. Each of them carries a piece of Larry's spirit and love.

An avid outdoorsman, Larry found solace in the simplicity of nature. His favorite pastimes included fishing and hunting, activities that not only brought him peace but also provided countless stories that he loved to share with friends and family. Larry's presence at family events was always a highlight, as his humor and spirited personality brought laughter and joy to those around him.

Larry's love for hay farming was more than just a job; it was a way of life that he embraced wholeheartedly. His friends often found themselves on the receiving end of his playful pestering, a trait that endeared him to many. Larry's outgoing nature made him a friend to all, and his absence will be deeply felt by the community he loved so much.

Those who knew Larry would describe him as loving, funny, and spirited. He had a knack for making people feel at ease and was always ready with a joke or a kind word. His laughter was infectious, and his ability to find humor in any situation was one of his most endearing qualities.

Larry's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the golden threads of cherished memories. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his infectious smile, and his generous heart. His spirit will live on in the stories told by the crackling fire, the quiet moments on the lake, and the bountiful harvests of the fields he tended with such care.

Memorial contributions can be made to the family to help with funeral expense as this passing was very unexpected.

As we bid farewell to Larry Robert Benson, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come. Larry's memory will be held in the hearts of those who knew him, and his stories will be passed down like precious heirlooms. Rest in peace, dear Larry, until we meet again.
