With hearts filled with precious memories, we celebrate the life of Larry Wayne Boddie. Larry was born on January 24th, 1954 in Helena-West Helena, AR and went to his eternal home on January 6, 2024. Larry brought joy and laughter to all those he encountered throughout his almost 70 years. Known for his funny antics, Larry's humor was a beacon of light that brightened even the darkest of days. While we grieve Larry's loss, we also rejoice in the love he brought to our lives, his commitment, and his unmatched sense of humor.
Larry was a man of many talents and a constant source of reliability in both his professional and personal life. At age 62, Larry retired from Bemis and then worked for O'Reilly Auto Parts part time for the last several years. Most importantly, he was a man who cherished the value of family above all else. He married the love of his life, Sherry, on November 12, 1982. Built on a foundation of shared humor, love, and support, their love story blossomed into a beautiful family with four daughters who each have blessed them with a multitude of reasons to be proud.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry, and his four daughters and their significant others, Aimee and David Foote, Tasha and Robin Ivey, Summer Boddie and Michael Bittle, and Ashton and JT Schrock. He was a proud grandfather to Jasmine (Josh) Johnson, Chase Ivey, Gavon Taylor, Caydee Ivey, Mason Taylor, Madison Taylor, Tyler Schrock, Connor Beechler, Kane Schrock, Autumn Foote, Lincoln Schrock, and Cassie Foote. He also had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Addie Johnson. Larry is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Ann (Carl) Hamilton, Floyd Boddie, Jerry (Susan) Boddie, Jimmy Boddie, Ivy (Ernie) Long, Lois Pinkley, Pat Herrington, also his mother-in-law Louise Buchanan, brother-in-law Jack (Carrie) Buchanan, sister-in-law Kristin (Carl) Gregory, and many more beloved family members.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Chandler and Vernice Boddie, brother Billy Joe Boddie, sister Joyce Reynolds, half-brother Garland Boddie, half-sister Delore Floyd, father-in-law Jack Buchanan, sister-in-law Regina Buchanan, and his and Sherry's angel baby.
A public memorial for family and friends will take place on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Humphrey Chapel of Light, 2801 West Main St., Russellville, Arkansas, 72801. A private family viewing and committal will be held at 1:00 pm.
While we mourn Larry's passing, we can find comfort in the memories we shared with him. As Helen Keller said, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." We encourage family and friends to leave memories and upload photos to Larry's memorial page. Let us remember and celebrate Larry's life, his humor, his dedication, and his unwavering love for his family.
