Larry Bridges Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stewart Family Funeral Home - Tyler on Feb. 24, 2026.
Larry Bridges was born on December 10, 1944, in Evansville, Indiana. He passed away on February 23, 2026, in Tyler, Texas.

On June 18, 1966, Larry married the love of his life, Reta. For nearly 60 years, they built a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and shared adventure.

Larry worked as a heavy equipment operator and was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Company in Decatur, Illinois. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family.

More than anything, Larry loved his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Reta; his three children: Brian and his wife Michelle, Kevin and his wife Shelli, and Lareta and her husband Michael. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren who were a constant source of joy in his life.

Larry was an enthusiastic motorcycle rider and enjoyed traveling with Reta, taking many trips and making lasting memories together.

He loved to sing and especially cherished gospel songs. It was not uncommon for Larry to invite friends from church over for dinner, and after the meal, bring out the songbooks and gather everyone together to sing. Those evenings of fellowship and music reflected his joyful spirit and his love for worship.

One of the greatest memories of Larry was the question he would often ask - sometimes with a lighthearted smile, but always with sincere conviction:

"So what have you done for the Lord today?"

That simple question reflected the way he lived - mindful of faith, intentional about purpose, and always pointing his family toward the Lord.

Larry's life was marked by devotion, strength, hospitality, music, and a deep love for God and family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Memorial services for Larry will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Shiloh Road Church of Christ in Tyler.
