Larry Edward "Ed" Buchanan, age 82, of Erwin, passed away on December 8, 2025 at Johnson City Medical Center. Larry was born on October 28, 1943 in Buladean, NC to parents Hubert and Birdie Stockton Buchanan. He was a a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served his country for more than 10 years and was a member of Canah Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing, and attending church when his health allowed. He dearly loved his little fur baby, Faith. He was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Birdie Buchanan, father, Hubert Buchanan, brothers: Doral, Frank, and Haynes, and sisters: Cora Mae, Betty, Shirley, Jessie and Jean.
Larry Edward "Ed" Buchanan has left behind to cherish his memory: his beloved wife of 58 years, Bertha Buchanan; daughters: Toni Buchanan of Knoxville, and Debra Rose of Bristol; granddaughter, Katie Moore of Bristol; and great-grandsons, Tynan Galloway and Corbyn Galloway, both of Bristol.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 15, 2025 from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM at Canah Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 704 Jonesborough Road Erwin, TN 37650. A celebration of life will begin at 6:30 PM, with Reverend Mark Simmons officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 Am on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 in Evergreen Cemetery in Erwin, TN. Those attending the committal service should meet at Evergreen Cemetery by 10:50 AM on Tuesday for the service.
Memorial donations can be made in Ed's name to the Canah Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 704 Jonesborough Road Erwin, TN 37650.
