Larry A. Carpenter, 58, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 1, 1966, in Zanesville, Larry was the son of the late Clarence and Carolyn Kay (King) Carpenter. He dedicated over 30 years of his life working for the Hartley Company and Bell Stores, retiring as manager in 2023. Larry had a variety of hobbies, including fishing, watching wrestling, tinkering with his lawnmowers, and enjoying demolition derbies. However, what brought him the most joy was spending time with his grandchildren and nieces, who held a special place in his heart.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Shannon (Clark) Carpenter, whom he married on March 14, 2002; his children, Ricky (Amber) Hill, Sharon (Robert) Wilson, and Michael (Courtney) Carpenter; his grandchildren, Dakota, Colten, Brookelyn, Destiny, Jaden, Jaelynn, Emma, Callie, Robert Jr., Carolyn, and Alexandria; his nieces, Maddie, Mollie, Tiffany, and Kara; his nephews, Joel and Zach; and his siblings, Brenda (John) Reese and Jerry (Jessie) Carpenter.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Carpenter.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Farus Funeral Home in New Concord. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Larry will be laid to rest alongside his parents at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Chandlersville.
