Larry Cottrell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeArman Pickard Funeral Home - Stratford on Aug. 26, 2025.
Larry Vaughn Cottrell, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, at Elmbrook Nursing Home in Ardmore, Oklahoma. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at Dolberg Cemetery at 10 A.M., Wednesday, August 27, 2025, with Pastor Trent Sisk officiating. Larry was born on March 26, 1945, in Stratford, Oklahoma, to the late Willis Edmond "Jim" Cottrell and Moraine Gladys (Baker) Cottrell. He attended Walker School, where he made lifelong memories and friendships. A hardworking man with simple joys, Larry found fulfillment working on the ranch, Martin Feed and numerous gas stations. He loved reading, listening to southern gospel music, and relaxing with his favorite show featuring "the lawn mower guy." On December 4, 1985, Larry married the love of his life, Amaryllis Rose (Benge) Cottrell. Their time together was filled with devotion and laughter until her passing in 1996. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Amaryllis; his brother Joseph Elzie Cottrell; and sister-in-law Evelyn Jolene (Kimbro) Cottrell. He is survived by his nephew steven Cottrell and wife Jo Ann; nieces Lisa Keith and husband Clint, and Denise Kious and husband Monty. Larry also leaves behind numerous great-nephews and nieces, extended family, and cherished friends whose lives were enriched by his quiet strength and kind spirit. Pallbearers for the service will include Clint Keith, Brandon Twyford, Christopher Kirkpatrick, Charlie Gilmore, Tyler Kirkpatrick and Braxon Twyford. We would like to thank the staff of Elmbrook Nursing Home for taking good care of uncle Larry and the staff of Cross Timbers Hospice. Larrys Legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
