Larry Ray Cowsert, born March 21, 1953 in Rosiclare, IL to Frank and Opal Cowsert, passed away August 14, 2025 where he resided at Lakeland Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Spring Valley Cemetery, rural Harrisburg, IL. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or The Salvation Army. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.

Larry always had a smile on his face and was happy to see you. He loved Hardin County and was best known for mowing yards in Rosiclare and his frequent visits to Bob's Supermarket and the Drug Store.

Larry was raised in Eichorn and moved with his mother to Rosiclare, where he took care of her until she went into the nursing home. After her passing, he then moved to Effingham to be near his sister Fran. Larry worked for Three Z Printing until he retired.

Larry loved working on puzzles and visiting the Casino now and then. He loved Hardin County so much that he sometimes would jump in his car and drive down to get a fish sandwich from the E-town River Restaurant.

Larry is survived by his brother, Frank (Olga) Cowsert of Powder Springs, GA, sister Mary Louise Cook of Ridgway, and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold (Ruby) Cowsert; and sisters, Fran (Jim) Hickrod and Elva (Earl) Wilson. Larry will be missed by many; however, we know he is resting easy and home with his parents.
