Larry James Culley of South Boston passed away on March 29, 2026 at the age of 78. He was born in Halifax County on September 25, 1947 to the late John Leonard Culley and the late Annie Russell Culley. He was married to the late Diana Phillips Culley.
Larry was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a retired electrician, and he enjoyed the outdoors and spent his spare time hunting and fishing. Above all else he loved his family and he will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Cheryl Culley Wilkerson and husband Jason of Scottsburg; four grandchildren, Charles Allen Newby, Jr and wife Rachel of Scottsburg, Haley Lord and husband Timothy of Red Oak, Matthew Ryan Wilkerson and Gavin Wilkerson both of Scottsburg; two great grandchildren, Ella and Lylah Lord; two sisters, Sharon Church and husband Clyde of Clover and Ethel Everhart of Scottsburg. He was preceded in death by two daughters Lisa Culley Newby and Lori Ann Culley.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Sean McGuire officiating. Burial to follow in Clover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home.
