Larry Glenn DeClerk, 88, of Grand Detour, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, IL. He worked for Caterpillar as a machinist for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1988.
Larry was born on February 4, 1936, in Kewanee, IL, the son of Albert and Ruby (Wiley) DeClerk. He married Moneta Sheets on December 29, 1956, in Kewanee. She proceeded him in death in 2021 after 64 years of marriage. Larry liked swing dancing with his wife, fishing, camping, and fixing anything mechanical. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida in the winter. Larry was a longtime member of Dixon Moose Lodge and Dixon Elks Lodge.
He is survived by three sons, David DeClerk of Aurora, Dan (Cindy) DeClerk of Orlando, FL, Doug (Shalia) DeClerk of Lubbock, TX; one daughter, Dianna Brevitt of Grand Detour; ten grandchildren, Nick DeClerk, Jess Ehmann, Casey DeClerk, Alex DeClerk, Jeremy DeClerk, Jackie DeClerk, Doug DeClerk, Jr., Devan DeClerk, Breanna Shippert, Lindsey Fish; and ten great-grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruby (Wiley) DeClerk and siblings, Frank DeClerk, Ronald DeClerk, and Delores Frederickson.
A Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon with a Graveside Service to follow at 2:30 pm at Grand Detour Cemetery in Grand Detour with his son, Douglas DeClerk, officiating.
A memorial has been established.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
