MORTON– Larry N. Dicks, 80, of Morton, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on March 9, 1943, in Peoria, to Nolan and Wilda (Nelson) Dicks. Larry married Jeannie Koehl on December 4, 1965, in Farmington, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Jeannie Dicks of Morton; son, Dr. Eric (Allison) Dicks of Morton; daughters, Lacey (Jerrod) Grampp and Katey (Ryan) Malson, both of Morton; grandchildren, Tess, Tag, Paige, Pres, Sage and Peyt; brothers, Leon Dicks and Terry (Carol) Dicks, both of Farmington; and sister, Charlene Roof of Washington.
Larry worked for Caterpillar for 40 years, retiring from truck engine sales in 2004.
He enjoyed golfing with his buddies at “Piney” and hunting with the boys at the land. Larry loved to watch Cardinals baseball and most college basketball games. His favorite thing was being close to his grandkids and watching them all grow up. But most of all, Larry was the best husband, dad, “Boppa” that anyone could ask for.
Larry was a member of First Mennonite Church in Morton, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2023, with Rev. Tom Linderman officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Burial will be at Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Runners’ Association.

We grew up just west of where Larry spent his years on the farm, rode the same school bus, in the same grade. Larry was always gentle and had a caring way about himself, what an honor to have been his friend in the class of 1961. Very sorry for the loss for the Dick's family. Pray, that as the family still are making adjustments in life, that the family can look forward to each day, as Larry's Spirit is active on the other side of the wall. Larry and I talked many times together and when we were in the 6th grade, Larry said he made a commitment to the Lord. Keep encouraged...Rich Davis

I had the privilege of growing up and going to school with Larry. We were in the same grade, and we both were farm boys. Our family sends our prayers and thoughts to the family.
