Steven Hale

WASHINGTON – Steven E. Hale, 77, of Washington, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026, Manor Court at Liberty Village in Peoria, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 6, 1948, in Peoria, to C. Edward and Margaret (Hawkins) Hale. He married Rae Anne Bendschneider on September 28, 1969, in Peoria.

Surviving are his wife, Rae Anne of Washington; daughters, Stephanie (Troy) Pequette and Caroline Hale, both of Washington and Lesley (Timothy) Breitzman of Centerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Brynna, Brody and Braelyn Feehan, Harper Pequette and Owen Breitzman; and brother, Charles (Suzanne) Hale of East Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Davis and brother, Thomas.

Steve was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a journeyman electrician for IBEW Local 34 for many years, retiring in 2011.

Steve was a member of the Grandview Masonic Lodge #1112 AF & AM.

A kind and gentle soul, Steve prided himself on being able to problem solve and repair just about any mechanical issue presented. His curiosity and knowledge about a variety of subjects never ceased to amaze us. He was always eager and willing to help family and neighbors. His humor and quick wit, most notably, puns and sarcasm, will be sorely missed, but carried on…IYKYK.

With loving gratitude, we will also carry on his love of music and travel. Most notably family trips to Walt Disney World.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of Steve's life will be held at a later date.
