Mr. Larry A. Dorrough, age 78, of Hogansville, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026, at his home.
Mr. Dorrough was born March 24, 1947, in Hogansville, son of the late Oliver Austin Dorrough and Bonnelle Kidd Dorrough. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War and was awarded two Purple Hearts, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver and two Bronze Service Stars, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, and a Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation.
A resident of Hogansville most of his life, he retired from Troup County following 20 years of service as the Maintenance Department manager, and had previously owned and operated Dorrough Construction Company, providing residential and commercial construction in Georgia and Florida. Larry was a former Hogansville City Councilman, was a member of Springhill Baptist Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, and especially loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Dorrough of Hogansville; his daughters, Tammi Thompson (Joe Thompson) of Lanett, AL, Laura Storey (Rusty Storey) and Jamie Dorrough, all of Hogansville; grandchildren, Austin Thompson (Robyn Thompson), Lawrence Thompson, Dale Thompson, Mazie Storey, and Emma Storey; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Thompson, Lillie Thompson, Paisley Thompson; and sisters, and brother, Bonnie Sue Arrington, Tommy Dorrough, Darla Faye Davis, and Brenda Lanning. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lance Dorrough.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, at Springhill Baptist Church. Rev. Jody Mitchell and Rev. Chuck Redmond will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 24.
