Larry Emory Obituary

William Larry Emory was born on August 4, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Henry Sr. and Margaret Emory. He passed away at the age of 84 on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Haxtun Health in Haxtun, Colorado.

Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Tuesday., October 7, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Halouska Family Chaney-Reager Funeral Home with Pastor Sean Cole officiating. Larry will be laid to rest at the cemetery in Fleming.

Larry grew up in Georgia, where he began his education and later completed his schooling while serving in the military. On January 2, 1965, he married the love of his life, Twila Emory, in LaSalle, Colorado. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four children: one son, Henry, and three daughters, Robin, Tonya, and Kristi.

A master carpenter by trade, Larry dedicated his life to building homes and crafting woodworking projects across the country. He had a deep love for working with his hands and took great pride in his craftsmanship. Yet, his favorite role was always that of husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Larry was a proud member of the Oddfellows and the Knights of Pythias. He had a lifelong love for the outdoors and cherished time spent in the mountains-fishing, camping, and enjoying nature. He also loved reading western novels, playing board and card games (especially cribbage), and later in life, building birdhouses with Twila. One of his greatest joys was teaching his children and grandchildren how to restore cars, sharing both his skills and his time.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents Henry Sr. and Margaret Emory, his brothers Henry and Ray Emory, his beloved wife Twila Emory, and his daughter Robin Papp.

He is survived by his brother Glen Emory of Fulton, Georgia; his son Henry Emory of Sterling, Colorado; daughters Tonya Emory of Ovid, Colorado, and Kristi (Alsey) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren Ash of Julesburg, Colorado, Kassi of La Cruz, New Mexico, Kelcie of Sterling, Colorado, Kameron of Haxtun, Colorado, Taiit (Alyx) of Sterling, Colorado, Tanner (Robyn) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Drayvan (Elissa) of Holyoke, Colorado; along with 17 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

Larry's legacy of love, craftsmanship, and devotion to family will continue to live on through all those who knew and loved him.
