Larry W. Francis
1942 – 2024
Larry W. Francis, 82, of Blythedale, MO went to his eternal heavenly home Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO after a short battle with cancer.
He was born May 5, 1942, to Leonard and Velma (Shain) Francis, the eldest of five sons. Larry graduated from Cainsville High School in 1960, then later, proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1966 where he was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
He met the love of his life, Joyce Hart. They were married on October 16, 1966 and were blessed with almost 58 years together including sharing their lives with their three sons, Tom, Alan and Brett.
Larry was a farmer for most of his adult life and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to work the land, hunt deer, quail and pheasant and enjoyed the sport of horseshoe pitching and proudly passed these down to all three of his sons.
He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, serving as trustee for many years. He loved the Lord and was grateful for God's forgiveness and his salvation.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steve Francis.
Larry will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Joyce; sons, Tom Francis of Ankeny, IA, Alan (Amy) Francis of Defiance, OH and Brett (Mironda) Francis of Murray, IA; his grandson, Alex Francis; step grandchildren, Trevor (Teresa) White, Ashley (Connor) O'Byrnes, Nicole (Caleb) Cole; many step great-grandchildren and his brothers, Gary (Melody) Francis, Lyndon (Lori) Francis and Randal (Terry) Francis.

So sorry for your loss! Cousin Larry, Steve and Gary were larger than life. I spent a few weeks in the summer when I was probably 10 or 11. I remember Larry got mad at a milk cow and he kicked it made me cry. I cherish the memories of that summer with Uncle Leonard, Aunt Velma and the 3 boys, Lyndon and Randall had not been born yet. Aunt Velma and Uncle Leonard wanted a little girl, trying 5 times.
