Larry James Gibbons, born on March 2, 1950, in Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will forever resonate with those who had the privilege to know him. Larry was a proud veteran who dedicated his young adult life to serving his country in the United States Army. His bravery took him to the front lines during the Vietnam War, where he demonstrated unwavering courage and commitment. After returning home from service, Larry channeled his dedication into a fulfilling career as a carpenter at the Nashville VA Hospital for an impressive 42 years. Family and friends meant everything to Larry. He is survived by his beloved nephew and niece , cousins, along with multiple great-nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Larry deeply. Preceded in death by parents, grandparents, brothers and sister. Outside of work and family commitments, Larry found joy in simple pleasures that brought people together. An avid professional bass fisherman. He could often be found casting lines at local lakes with friends by his side. On weekends you could count on seeing Larry light up any dance floor-whether it was line dancing or two-stepping that earned him affectionately known as "Uncle Larry" among many circles. His warmth extended beyond blood relations. Numerous friends became part of an extended family forged through laughter shared over fishing trips or evenings spent on the front porch. Neighborhood kids became like his own. Each person whose life intersected with Larry's carries cherished memories that reflect both joyfulness and camaraderie. A military honors ceremony will take place on August 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery-a fitting tribute honoring this remarkable man's service to our nation while celebrating all facets of what made him so special.
