Larry Green Obituary
Larry Green, 75, of Cerro Gordo, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 28, 2023, while in McLeod Florence Hospital.
Larry was born on March 2, 1948, in Whiteville, NC, son of the late Rev. Aubrey Green and Pensie Strickland Green. He was also preceded in death by his son, Larry McNeil Green; granddaughter, Kendyl Gay Fipps; siblings, Aubrey Green, Jr., Jerry Wayne Green, Frankie Green Atkins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from China Grove Baptist Church (2903 Old Stake Road, Chadbourn, NC), with Pastor Wendell Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, at Worthington Funeral Home.
Larry was a faithful member of China Grove Baptist Church, where he served in various roles over the years. He sang in the gospel group, the China Grove Boys. Upon Larry's graduation from High School, he went on to earn his bachelor's degree in education, which began his 30-plus year career in childhood education; he retired from Loris Middle School.
The surviving family includes his wife, Martha Nobles Green of the home; a daughter, Jill Green Fipps and husband, Brett, of Nashville, NC; brother, Horace Green of Cerro Gordo; sisters, Teresa Green Pridgen of Tabor City, Alice Marie McDonald of Beaufort, NC, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
