Larry Ray Henderson, 76, passed away on October 25, 2025 at his home in
Eldon, Missouri surrounded by his loving family. He had been fighting thyroid cancer for the past six months.
Larry was born June 14, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Loyd and Lemoine (Sousley) Standiford. He was married on June 29, 1968 to Nancy Wood.
Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy of the home and their three children Bryan Henderson (Shelly) of Eldon, Steve Henderson (Lindsey) of Eldon, Kelly Ahart (Jeff) of Overland Park, Kansas. Seven grandchildren Brianna Otto (TJ), Reece Henderson, Gavin Henderson, Taylor Henderson, Haley Henderson, Jadyn Henderson and Adley Ahart, one great grandson Leo Bryan Otto. Siblings Bernie Standiford (Jeannie) of Lone Jack, Missouri, Nancy Ann McColm of
Eldon, Missouri, sister-in-laws Sun Standiford of Grain Valley, Missouri, and Cheri Standiford of Kansas City, Missouri.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Loyd Standiford, Lemoine Standiford Soto, step-father Pete Soto, brothers David Standiford and Tony Standiford, nephew Bernie Mike Standiford, niece Christina Diehl, brother-in-law Malcolm McColm, father and mother-in-laws Bob and Wilma Jean Wood, brother and sister-in-laws Joe and Peggy Moulder, Terry and Donna Walker.
Larry graduated from Climax Springs R-IV where he met Nancy, his wife of 58 years. After getting married Larry took a job with Southwestern Bell Telephone in Kansas City as a lineman. While working for the phone company, he was promoted and transferred to Camdenton, Eldon, Imperial and finally back to Eldon where he and Nancy made their home and raised their family for the last 40 years.
After retiring from AT&T formerly Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 29 years, he started a job with the Missouri Public Service Commission, working there for five years then working for Fluke Industries training employees. His last job was with the Wilkins Group Inc., Telecommunication. Larry finally retired at the age of 70 though he stayed busy selling items on Ebay.
Larry was active in his school and community. He served as president of the school boards in Climax Springs and Eldon as well as Eldon Booster Club president. Larry was committed to the community by serving as Mayor of Eldon for four years.
Larry was a devoted Christian and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.
Larry loved his family attending games, dance, band, and many other events for his children and grandchildren. They always knew he would be in the crowd cheering them on. If you ever talked to him about his family you would hear, "We've been blessed!"
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home of
Eldon, MO. Funeral Service will be Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Brother Bart Shaw officiating also at Phillips Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Eldon City Cemetery.
