Larry Henry, age 78, of Concordia, KS, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. He was born on November 8, 1947, in Salina, KS to Merrill A. & Vada M. (Comfort) Henry.
He graduated from Clyde High School in 1965 and served in the US Air Force from 1966-1970 during the Vietnam War. He also served in the Kansas Air National Guard from 1970-1971.
He married Sherry Reeves on June 2, 1968, in Concordia, KS.
Larry built a long and dedicated career in business and banking. He began working for Schendel Pest Control, later moving on to Wilson Furniture Store and People’s Heritage Savings & Loan, before joining 1st Bank & Trust. His banking career continued at UMB Bank, where he served as a loan officer and later as Senior Vice President. He later worked in the trust department at Citizens National Bank, retiring in 2015.
He served the community of Concordia in various capacities, from serving on the Concordia Country Club Board, a Trustee on the Cloud County Community College Board, a Past President of the Concordia Chamber of Commerce, a Past President of Concordia Rotary Club, Cloud Corp Board of Directors, and NCK CASA Board of Directors.
He was an active member of the Elks Lodge #1428. He was a member of the Concordia Country Club, American Legion Golf Course and Concordia Golf & Wellness. He also belonged to the American Legion Post #76 of Concordia & VFW Post #7515 of Clyde
Larry’s passion was always his family. He loved to attend and support all his children and grandchildren’s activities, no matter where those travels would take him. He had a deep love for all sports, and as an avid golfer, he especially cherished the time spent on the course with his wife and family.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sherry, Concordia, KS; daughters, Amy Hittle (Derrick), Concordia, KS & Stacy Larsen (Aaron), Jamestown, KS; son, Brett Henry (Charla), Manhattan, KS; grandchildren, Skyler Hittle (Kourtni), Stormie Krone (Stanten), Autaum Poley, Cole Larsen (Jordan), Taegen Larsen (Derek Pieschl), & Kaycie Henry; great grandchildren, Brynlee Hittle & Winston Krone; brother, Harrel Hendriex, Salina, KS; sisters, Janice Geronimo (Rick), Sedalia, MO & Lyndia Tourangeau (Mark “Buzz”), Ft. Collins, CO; brothers in law, Mike Reeves (Penni), Lawrence, KS, Rick Reeves, Concordia, KS, and Scott Reeves (Sherry), Basehor, KS, & Calvin Benyshek, Belleville, KS & a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill & Vada; stepmother, Neoma Hendriex Henry; brother, Thomas “Tom” Henry & sisters, Jannet Benyshek & Sherry Moore (& husband, Rodney).
It was Larry’s wish to be cremated and a service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, January 9, 2026, at Chaput Buoy Funeral Home, with Joshua Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia with military honors conducted by McConnell AFB. Friends may sign the book on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 1-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-7 pm at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, KS. The family suggests memorials to go to the Panther Legacy Hall at CHS and/or Panther Athletics in care of the funeral home.
