He enjoyed working on machinery, including mowers and tractors, was an avid Alabama football fan, enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, but especially loved being PawPaw to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Hooks of Corinth; daughter, Angela Danford (Brad) of Valley, AL; step-son, Rev. Dale Prather (Holly) of Franklin; grandchildren, Jacob Cook (Ashley), Alex Cook (Nathan) and Katelyn Cook, all of Valley, Nathan Prather and Nolan Prather, both of Franklin; great-granddaughter, Serenity Golembeski; brother, Steve Hooks of Valley; and sister, Pam McLerran (John) of Texas.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverend Dale Prather, the Reverend Randall Hodge, and J B Brown will officiate, followed by Masonic rites and Fire Service honors.
