Memorial services for Mr. Larry Forrest Horner will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in the chapel of Shelton Funeral Home, with Josh Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Larry Forrest Horner, age 83, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, in Jackson, TN.
Born on March 17, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Jessie and Pearl (Duncan) Horner, Larry moved with his family to Brazil, TN, at the age of four following his father's discharge from the Army. He was a 1961 graduate of Trenton Peabody High School and went on to a long career as a driver for UPS, retiring after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Larry had a passion for travel, particularly enjoying cruises and beach vacations. His hobbies included woodworking, riding his motorcycle, camping, fishing, and watching Tennessee Volunteers football.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Horner Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Horner; his son, Scott Horner and wife Temple; and his sister, Janet (Horner) Greene and husband James Albert. Larry's legacy continues through his five grandchildren: Ellen (Jackson) Haskins and husband P.J., Jennie Beth (Jackson) Phelan and husband Dustin, Beau Jackson and wife Kylie, Emilee Horner, and Spencer Horner and wife Sydney.
He is also survived by two stepchildren, Kelly (Pierce) Hatch and husband Patrick, and Billy Pierce; his step-grandchildren Joshua Hatch and wife Mikayla, Trevor Hatch, and Austin Pierce.
