Larry Preston Jenkins, 66 of Berryville, VA was welcomed into the arms of Jesus
on October 4, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Larry was born April 11, 1958, in Leesburg, VA. son of Preston B. Jenkins and
Louise Christine Jenkins.
He attended Broad Run High School in Ashburn, VA and served in the United States
Army as a Sargent in the HQ 7th INF DIV & FT Ord, FT ORD California.
He spent 37 years at the Winchester Star and Washington Post as a paper courier.
Larry was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and various hunting, one of his favorites was turkey (gobbler) hunting.
As a teenager and young man, he attended the Turkey Shoots at Ashburn Firehouse,
often bringing home rewards (turkey, bacon, ham, etc.) and sharing with his family.
His sense of humor would always have everyone laughing in the room, as he always had a good come back.
Larry had many beautiful God given gifts such as singing, writing songs and playing his guitar with his family and friends.
He loved to research and study the word of God, prepared many excellent gourmet meals had a tremendous heart and a deep love for his family.
He is preceded in death by his father Preston B. Jenkins, mother Louise Christine Jenkins and brother-n-law John David Clem.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Irene Kay Jenkins; stepdaughter, Barbara Jo Taylor; grandson, Matthew Issac Haley (Isabella) and one granddaughter, Rebecca Shante Lorey.
His sisters Kathy Kroon (Tom), Brenda Jenkins, Linda Jenkins, Sherry Clem and one brother
Ronald Jenkins (Patricia) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles who loved him.
The family will receive friends and family to remember and celebrate our love for Larry on October 9, 2024, at Halls Funeral Home, Purcellville, VA. Visitation at 12:00 pm with the service at 1:00pm.
