Larry Johns

Larry Ronald Johns, 78, of Monticello, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at his residence.

He was born on May 5, 1946 in Rensselaer to the late Arthur and Lillian (Thompson) Johns. On January 17, 1981 he married Annabelle Manansala in the Philippines. She survives.

Larry was a 1965 graduate of Chalmers High School, the last class at that school and of Indiana Business College in Ft. Wayne. He retired from the Air Force as a crew chief of a Cargo C-130. After retirement, he got his CDL and drove for Tri State Ccob in Delphi for several years. In addition, he helped on the family farm. He attended Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. Larry enjoyed tinkering around with cars, yard work, hunting, fishing, movies, and electronics. He had a passion for photography. He liked Bluegrass and country music and loved the cowboy lifestyle - blue jeans, boots and hats, and a fan of Clint Eastwood. He was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed traveling all over the world. Larry cherished his family and always put them first. He wanted them to have a good life and was a good provider.

Surviving are his children, Rodney (Danijela) Johns of Castle Rock, CO, Phillip R. Johns of Cibolo, TX, Catherine Johns of Seattle, WA; siblings, Eunice McQuinn of Winamac, Gary (Janis) Johns of Idaville, Richard (Phyllis) Johns of Monon, Daryl (Barbara) Johns of Delphi, and Dan (Cathy) Johns of Monticello; and granddaughter, Anjelka Johns.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm (EDT) until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. The Rosary will be prayed at 3:45 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at the funeral home with Fr. Dan Duff of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Bedford Cemetery with military rites rendered there.
