Larry B. Johnson, age 81, of St Cloud passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at his home.
A Memorial Gathering Celebrating Larry's life will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Benson Funeral Home with a Time of Sharing at 6:30 PM.
Larry Bernard Johnson was born on February 4, 1942 in Cambridge, MN to Bernard "Barney" and Laura "Jean"(Swanson). He was married to Susan Swanson on September 16, 1967 in Rush Point, MN. Larry worked in sales with Sylvania Lighting for 31 years retiring in 1999. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, (especially the walleye opener on Mille Lacs with family), casino trips, and was an avid MN Vikings fan and long time season ticket holder. Larry loved traveling with Susan and spending time at their cabin in Chetek, WI and later in Hayward, WI, where they made countless memories with their family and friends. He and Susan wintered in Mesa, AZ for 17 years before moving to St. Cloud in 2017 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Susan of St. Cloud; sons, Brian (Wendy) Johnson of Elk River and Brad Johnson of Wahkon; grandchildren, Nissa (fiancé, Jorun Hamre) Johnson, Anders Johnson, Maddie Johnson and Ava Johnson; sisters, Lois (Curt) Olson of Cambridge and Nancy (Terry) Stewart of Plymouth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Barney Johnson.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to CentraCare Home Hospice.
