LARRY JOHNSON 08/23/1956 - 06/13/2025 Larry Johnson, 68, of Maynard passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 19 at 1 p.m. at Maynard Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements with Wing-Bain Funeral Home. Larry Dean Johnson was born on August 23, 1956, in Granite Falls, the son of Henry and Lena (Gimmestad) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at Maynard Lutheran Church. He was involved with Boy Scouts Troop 470 in Maynard. He graduated from Maynard High School in 1974 and continued his education at Granite Vo-Tech for electronics. Larry was united in marriage with Cindy Carter on May 26, 1979, in Montevideo. They moved to Alvarado, Texas, where Larry worked for Data 100 and Northern Telecom. The family moved back to Minnesota and Larry spent many years working out at Friendship Homes of Montevideo as the quality inspector and later was an Inspector for the State of Minnesota. Larry loved traveling on his motorcycle. He enjoyed his trips from Florida to Alaska and everywhere in between. He also had several trips out to Sturgis. In his spare time, he did woodworking in his shop, creating many items for family and friends. He also enjoyed horseback riding, dirt biking with his granddaughters, gardening, skiing, race cars, flying remote-controlled airplanes and raising horses. His pride and joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He beamed with delight anytime he talked about his shenanigans growing up. Larry is survived by his daughter Meagan Johnson (Andrew Buseman) of Montevideo; granddaughters: Brooklynn Lanphear and Addyson Lanphear; sister Joyce (Richard) McJunkin of Virginia and sister-in-law Evie Johnson of Maynard. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Arnold.
