Larry Jones, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on February 9th, 2026.

Larry Laten Jones was born on May 19th, 1940, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Edith and Leighton Jones. Larry attended Oliver Springs High School, where he was the captain of the basketball team. He then went on to complete 2 years of college at Tennessee Tech, majoring in chemistry, before he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 4 years. During his enlistment, he met the love of his life, Nina, in Abilene, Texas. They went on to get married in September of 1965. In May of 1966, they welcomed their son, Todd, then later welcomed their daughter, Tracy, in October of 1973. Larry spent 31 years working in the labs at Y12 National Security Complex and retired in 1997.

Larry spent his retirement years with his wife, Nina, at their home in Farragut. He spent time tending to his well-known garden, being a social butterfly at the local gym, spending time with all three of his grandchildren, and enjoying Sunday dinners with his family. He and Nina always loved and looked forward to their weekly Friday night dinner at Wendy's. He was known for his jokes, talking to anyone, and his love for his family.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Nina Jones, mother and father, Edith and Leighton Jones, and sister, Gerri French. Larry is survived by his son, Todd Jones (Lisa), daughter, Tracy Jones, grandchildren, Logan Jones, Brooke Garrett (Austin), Caroline Jones, and great-grandchildren, Paisley and Tatum.

The family will be holding a private memorial for Larry at a later date. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers as they continue to get through these difficult times.
