Larry Duane Kranz, age 72 of Appleton, MN passed away October 26, 2025, at his home. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Appleton.
Larry Duane Kranz was born to Russell and Lola (Groothius) Kranz in Montevideo, Chippewa County, on December 24, 1952. He went to country school at District 10 Camp Release Township in Lac qui Parle County and graduated from Montevideo Public Schools. On March 18, 1972, Larry was united in marriage to Barbara Thompson at Big Bend Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with four children: Michelle, Steve, Cory, and Todd.
He loved to farm, work construction, and drink coffee and visit with his family and friends. Larry especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He loved beating them in cards and board games and supporting them at all of their numerous games, recitals, and events. Larry was very proud of his banana bread and made sure everyone knew how good it was. Lately, he enjoyed beating his grandchildren in fantasy football and reminding them when he did.
Larry attained the age of 72 years, 10 months, and two days of age. Larry is survived by his loving wife Barb of 53 years; his children: Michelle Kranz of Appleton, Steve (Lydia) Kranz of Milan, Cory (Missy) Kranz of Osakis, Todd (Tania) Kranz of Milan; 11 grandchildren: Braden, Carly, Hayden, Lillyane, Kiley, Addi, Landen, Logan, Talen, Chloe and Tenley; siblings: Jim (Arlene) Kranz of Montevideo, Kathy (Ron) Arneson of Montevideo, and Debra Kranz of Chanhassen; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Lola Kranz; parents-in-law Vernon and Delores Thompson; and sister-in-law Ramona Berve.
