Gregory Lee Arnold, age 66, of Appleton, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at CentraCare Hospital in Benson, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Sara Shingledecker will officiate. Interment will take place at Appleton City Cemetery.
Greg was born on October 27, 1958, in Morris, Minnesota, to Victor and Jeannine Arnold. He was raised on the family farm in Hegbert Township, north of Appleton, where he learned the values of hard work, family, and community. He attended school in Appleton and graduated with the Class of 1977.
On August 23, 1980, Greg married his high school sweetheart, Ellen Hanson, at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Together they built a life rooted in love, farming, and family. They made their home on the family farm in Hegbert Township and were blessed with two children, Lee Orton Arnold and Shelby Kim Arnold, whom Greg considered the greatest joys of his life.
Greg was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He served faithfully on the Hegbert Township Board and the Save-a-Lake Board. A devoted steward of the land, Greg found fulfillment in farming, as well as in fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Greg will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Ellen Hanson Arnold; his son Lee Orton Arnold (Claire) of Monticello, MN; his daughter Shelby Kim Arnold of Fargo, ND; his brother Randy (Pati) Arnold of Appleton, MN; nephews Jesse Arnold and Joshua (Jill) Arnold; great-nephew Isaiah Arnold; and great-niece Shaye Arnold.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Jeannine Arnold; his sister Victoria Byre and brother-in-law Calvin Byre; great-niece Brynn Arnold; and mother-in-law Rosemary L. Stock.
Greg leaves behind a legacy of kindness, commitment, and community. His memory will be deeply cherished by all who knew and loved him.
