Loretta Bertha Ann Thielke, 87, of Appleton died on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, South Dakota. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Holloway. Zniewski Funeral Home-Vaala Chapel of Appleton is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Loretta Bertha Ann Thielke was born on June 17, 1938, in Moyer Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Palmer and Laverna Holzheimer Suckow. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holloway, Minnesota, on June 28, 1938, and confirmed there on June 1, 1952. She grew up in the Holloway area and attended Holloway schools. Later she earned her G.E.D. On July 31, 1954, Loretta was united in marriage to Loren Raymond Thielke at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Holloway. Their first home was on a farm in Hegbert Township, Swift County. Later they lived in Holloway and Appleton, Minnesota. She worked for the City of Appleton, B&H Electronics, the City of Holloway, Innovex, and in the laundry at Appleton Area Health, retiring in 2012.
Loretta enjoyed bowling, flower and vegetable gardening, fishing, solving sudoku and word search puzzles, and watching all the old classic TV shows. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. May she always be remembered for her kind and patient spirit. She was called from this life on Saturday morning, August 23, 2025, at the Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, South Dakota. She attained the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 6 days.
Loretta is survived by her children Jean Firchau of Beardsley, Dennis (Judy) Thielke of Alexandria, Jill Housman of Montevideo, Robert (Lisa) Thielke of Murrieta, California, and Raymond (Laura) Thielke of Chokio; her daughter-in-law Mary Thielke of Madison, her grandchildren Regina (Jaimey) Koenen, Roderick (Lesa) Thielke, Rebecka (Brian) Petermann, Susan (Dan) Herberg, Richard (Shelly) Firchau, Katie (Tyler) Kinzler, Kayla (Justen) Abrahamson, Bethany (Kyler) Hellekson, Justin (Jennifer Athey) O'Malley, Angeline O'Malley, Sara (Michael) Dirckx, Karrie (Buford ‘Bucky’) Rogers, Abby (Mizraim Mercado) Thein, Zachary (April) Thielke, and Katie (Anthony Kearns) Thielke; her siblings Darlene Meyer, Judy (Robert) Ronning, Jim (Janet) Suckow, and Dale (Brenda) Suckow; her sister-in-law Ellen Munsterman, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Loren on April 23, 2004, her parents Palmer and Laverna, father-in-law and mother-in-law Walter and Agnes Thielke, her son Daniel, her son-in-law Ervin Firchau, her brothers-in-law Robert Meyer, Melvin Munsterman, and Willard Thielke, her sister-in-law Ethel Haider, and her nephew Derek Ronning. Blessed be her memory.
