Larry Wayne Lane, 65 of Canute, Oklahoma was born on August 24, 1960, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to William Floyd and Rosa Ella (Johnson) Lane. Larry looked upon the face of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at his residence in Canute, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.
Larry married the love of his life, Cheri Lynn Morgan on June 18, 1981, at Wheeler, Texas. Together they spent forty-three wonderful years of marriage together and raised two wonderful sons, Michael and David.
Larry received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award for two years, under President Richard Nixon and President Gerald Ford. He pitched and played first base in the Baseball All Star Game two times, winning both, across the mountains in Red Oak, Oklahoma.
Larry worked in the oilfield industry at Byrd in Abilene, Texas and Residential Roofing for over thirty years.
He appreciated living in Western Oklahoma an took great pride in hunting and killing a six-point deer in 1975. In his spare time, Larry could be found fishing at farm ponds and lakes in Oklahoma. Larry excelled at running a bucket and hook lay-down machine, working on motorized bicycles, and woodworking.
Larry had a deep personal relationship with God, he was an honest man and would lend a helpful hand to anyone in need. Larry treasured spending time with his family and friends, he will be deeply missed and greatly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Norma's, 321 South Main Street, Canute, Oklahoma. Tessa Cortez will officiate. Interment will be at Edwardsville Cemetery, Canute, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing his memory is his loving wife, Cheri Lynn Lane of Canute, Oklahoma; two sons, Michael W. Lane and wife, Cynthia of El Reno, Oklahoma, David W. Lane of Canute, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Andrew Lane of El Reno, Oklahoma, Issac Lane of El Reno, Oklahoma; two brothers, James H. Lane and wife, Pat of Joplin, Missouri, Stanley T. Lane and wife, Pauline of McCurtain, Oklahoma; two sisters, Glenda Jean McCullar of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Rose Mary Burkett and her husband Mitch of Stigler, Oklahoma; and special friends, Norma Warnke, Juan Cortez and wife, Tessa and family, Robert Rioux and wife, Andrea, Dale Harrell and wife, Patty, Wayne Walters and wife, Shaun, Victor Wantabe and Vicky Lunsford all of Canute, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, William Floyd and Rosa Ella Lane; paternal grandparents; maternal grandparents; one newborn nephew, Dustin Lane; numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many other relatives and friends.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home and Cremation Services, P.O. Box 707, Elk City, Oklahoma 73648.
